May 2024

Lee Asta, OAG President

I can’t believe our last meeting till the Fall is coming up in a few days. Where did the time go? While members meetings will be suspended till September, we will manage to get together in June with a wonderful luncheon at Milano’s Italian Restaurant where our art is shown and sold… and then a trip or two in July and /or August that will be interesting and educational to say the least. I’d like to thank everyone who took part in our various venues with their Wonderful art and their volunteering. It truly was an amazing year for OAG- because of your support and involvement!!

If you haven’t gotten to the Leesburg Center for our Art Show, you have another month to see it. It’s a phenomenal show! Check the website for details.

Tuesday, May 7th at 11:00 our ARTISTS’ BOOK CLUB will meet once again to discuss the book: “Madonna’s of Leningrad” with Peggy Dates’s as our Hostess. Check details on the WEBSITE. ALL ARE INVITED TO ATTEND IF INTERESTED IN SEEING WHAT WE ARE ALL ABOUT!!

May 11th, our Theatre Group is heading to the last Ocala Civic Theatre show for our group “Margaritaville”. Check the website for details about our art show there the weekend before and the reception. Do try and DROP IN to support our group by showing their work there!

Watch for an Individual email inviting you to join our Theatre group for next year’s season of three plays! We had a group of 10 this past year and had a lot of fun. We not only saw some nice plays, but enjoyed a delicious dinner later at Mesa De Notte where our art is shown and sold!

Of course, DO NOT MISS OUR LAST MEMBERS MEETING FOR THE YEAR AT OUR NEW HOME: CHELSEA ART CENTER! May 13th from 11- 1:00 with a great DEMO once again. BRING SOME COKIES FOR A TREAT! Plan on going out AFTER for a quick lunch at a local restaurant nearby!!!

This Meeting is very important for several reasons: First, members will learn about a somewhat NEW Slate of Officers and get to VOTE to approve it: Second, we MAY HAVE more exciting venues to share with you; and the DEMO is sure to be interesting!

As this year winds down, be sure to send in your dues to our new Membership CHAIR, Arlene Welles. IF you see something that interests you on our WEBSITE, be sure to VOLUNTEER TO HELP so that you can enjoy new friendships with fun and hardworking people! Bring your ideas to the meeting and let us hear what you have to share!!!

Sincerely, Your President, Leona (Lee) Asta
