A Message from Leona Asta, President

Wow, these last few months have been filled with so many emotions that I am speechless for this president’s message.
As you are all aware, I’ve been suffering with some very debilitating heart issues due to my faulty mitral valve! Because of this – My last few months have been extremely stressful -physically, mentally and emotionally to me with all the scheduling and shifting to make room for tests, consultations, iron infusions- you name it. The bottom line is this is something I will have to deal with the rest of my life until I find the surgeon who’s willing to take the chance to correct my issues!

Because of these circumstances, I have been filled with gratitude for all the help and support I have received from my friends in the villages as well as my friends from OAG!
First, I want to thank all my board members and committee chairpeople for continuing to keep my absence as un- noticeable as possible! Even without a first vice president, my Board has stepped forward to continue running our meetings and everyday Ocala Art Group doings, so that my absence is hardly noticed!

Thanks to all my Board as well as other members who have continued to keep OAG stable by volunteering to fill the vacancies created by officers retiring after a number of years of service!
You have no idea how much worry I suffered thinking that OAG was doomed, after so successfully achieving a 75th anniversary!
Well, we still have some openings available. I hope you will attend the May meeting so you can vote on the acceptance of the proposed slate of officers.

In conclusion -one of my favorite quotes from probably 50 plus years ago is this: “ask-not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country!” To paraphrase it: “it’s not what OAG can do for you but what you can do for OAG!”
Because we are such a small and friendly group, we depend on YOU for the success of OAG! Please don’t disappoint us!
